WreckingBalm Reviews
Probably the best known and best selling at home tattoo removal product, not because it is the most effective, but most likely because it has the largest advertising budget. WreckingBalm advertises on radio stations nationwide and expensive ad placements on such internet advertising platforms as Google, Yahoo, Bing and others.
Tattoo Removal Review

WreckingBalm consists of a gel, a cream, a concealer and what they call a “Dermomatic” and describe it as a “FDA-approved mechanical hand-held medical device that gently, but effectively, removes the upper layers of the epidermis” also known as a battery operated sander/exfoliate that comes with 2 “erosion heads” or spare sanding disks.
By their own description, the sander removes only the upper layers of the epidermis which is the top layer of skin. Unfortunately, professional tattoos are located well below the upper layers of the epidermis in the deeper, second layer of skin called the dermis.
As with other tattoo removal creams it contains at least one skin fading ingredient, Indian Gooseberry in this instance, along with a variety of moisturizers and skin soothing agents. It also contains more grit/exfoliate than many other creams to aid in skin removal with the sander.

- Ingredients: This very long list of 34 ingredients requires some explanation -
WreckingBalm consists mainly of a large assortment of skin pigment faders, skin moisturizers, skin conditioners, sun screens, exfoliate scrubs, cleansers, anti-aging creams, liquids and powders, skin toners/astringents, fragrance, makeup foundation/concealer, water, and Salicylic Acidic which they refer to as a “Chemical Cell Renewal Stimulus” because it causes the skin cells of the Epidermis (the top layer of skin) to shed faster. Salicylic acid is also a popular ingredient in acne medications.
After reading this list there appears to be no ingredients that have the power to penetrate the skin to the depth of a tattoo located in the dermis, or second layer of skin, where all professional tattoos are located.
A casual glance indicates WreckingBalm uses a large variety of common everyday ingredients used in skin fade products, facial makeup, lotions and scrubs.
It is the exfoliates in combination with their “FDA – approved mechanical hand held medical device”, (skin sander) that is actually doing the work of removing skin that may eventually (many, many months to years) fade the tattoo with only a slim chance of actually removing a professional tattoo.
It is our opinion the best use for this product is for home made tattoos using inferior pigments not very deeply implanted in the skin.
The numbers by each ingredient indicates the number of other cosmetic manufacturers using the ingredient and for the type product they use it in.
