The “How It Works” page on the Tattoo-Off web site says this product was “developed to work on tattoo ink, not skin complexions”. Below that statement they proudly proclaim:
“The Most Researched and Advanced Tattoo Removal Formula Available”
“No Chinese Ingredients”
They then have a list of 12 “Natural Botanicals” that fortify Tattoo-Offs' “Beneficial Formula”. The actual formula can be found by clicking on an oddly located link that says “Ingredients”.
Tattoo Removal Facts
Clicking the link takes you to a page containing a single spaced, tightly grouped list of words written in a way that is difficult to read. Our detailed inspection of the list revealed the word Hydroquinone.
Tattoo-Off contains Hydroquinone, which somewhat contradicts the statement “developed to work on tattoo ink, not skin complexions”.
Tattoo Removal Review
The purpose of hydroquinone, which is thought to be carcinogenic, is to fade skin pigment. Skin pigment faders used in tattoo removal products generally give the impression of a fading tattoo when in reality only the skin pigment above the tattoo is fading.
It does appear that the manufacturer of this product did do quite a bit of research on ingredients and included everything but the kitchen sink in their list of 53 different chemicals and compounds, the longest list of any product we have studied.
As with WreckingBalm, the list contains skin pigment faders, skin moisturizers, skin conditioners, sun screens, exfoliate scrubs, cleansers, anti-aging creams, liquids and powders, skin toners/astringents, fragrance, makeup foundation/concealer, water, and Salicylic Acidic.
The Tattoo-Off ingredient list, as they wrote it, contains some double entries so we duplicated the double entries in our description of those ingredients with one major change – we highlighted Hydroquinone on the list so that consumers understand what they are rubbing on their skin when they use this product.
We could locate no product guarantee on the web site.
The contact page lists no phone number or email address, but does contain an email form and the manufacturer's address.
