Tattoo Removal Cream
Tattoo removal cream products claim to offer the ability to remove permanent tattoo pigment without inconvenience, irritation or discomfort. That is just a marketing technique used by tattoo removal cream manufacturers or affiliate marketers to coax a few dollars from unsuspecting, trusting souls who want to believe such a process is possible at such a low tattoo removal cost. You may have been in Oz when the tattoo was applied, but reality is a wicked witch when it comes to tattoo removal cream as an effective tattoo removal product. One skin pigment fade product manufacturer even goes so far to say – Topical creams are generally only effective on epidermal hyperpigmentation.* That means tattoo removal cream does not have the ability to penetrate beyond the epidermis (top) layer of skin to the dermis (2nd) layer of skin where all tattoo pigments reside. They do not have the power to reach and remove tattoo ink by themselves.

No tattoo removal cream, by itself, can do anything but lighten skin pigment, not tattoo pigment, because every tattoo removal cream that we have investigated and studied contains at least one, and usually more, skin pigment faders or inhibitors. The chemical inhibitors work to slow down the production of melanin by the melanocytes which are the cells in the lower level of the epidermis that produce melanin. The more melanocytes a person has the more melanin they produce and the darker their skin.
People of African descent and those who descended from races that lived near the equator where the sun shines brightly year round, have a concentrated layer of melanocytes which produces large quantities of melanin to give them protection from the UV radiation of the sun. It serves as a natural sun block. The northern latitudes generally produced races with reduced capacity for melanin production, so their skin tone is lighter.
Tattoo removal cream manufactures obviously know that skin fade products alone will not fade tattoo pigment, so to their credit some have added sanders or suggested the use of an exfoliate in conjunction with their creams. One such manufacturer even goes so far as to include silica and ground black walnut shells to their cream to create a grit which is, essentially, a mild form of dermabrasion and dermabrasion itself is a distinctly unique form of tattoo removal without the need for the cream.
In essence you can use the dermabrasion technique by itself and save significant dollars. Without the constant abrasion of the skin there is not much chance a plain, pigment inhibiting tattoo removal cream will do anything but fade skin pigment above your tattoo making you think, for a while at least, that the actual tattoo pigment is fading. By the time you realize what is happening you have spent several hundred dollars and the companies that operate in this manner usually do not offer or do not honor their refund policies.
To repeat what we have often mentioned here, always investigate the return policy of a tattoo removal cream product you are considering using. Many are to short – 30 days – and others are highly misleading, if they are offered at all. To be fair, a tattoo removal cream company that does not offer a guarantee is at least letting you know up front that they have little confidence in their product, so you shouldn’t either. Scratch them from your list.
Tattoo removal cream companies that offer less than 4 to 6 months on their guarantee should be avoided. Tattoo pigment generally takes several weeks, a minimum of 10 – 12, to 4 – 6 months before fading can be noticed. An effective tattoo removal cream that contains some form of dermabrasion is a slow process that requires dedication from the person attempting the removal. The one exception may be permanent makeup removal because this type of tattoo pigment is generally not as dense or deposited as deep in the dermis as a professionally executed tattoo on another area of the body.
